Auto Repair Pricing

June 1, 2009 · Print This Article

www.repairpal.com lets you enter in your vehicle and what repair needs done and it will give you a range of what that repair should cost from a dealer and from an independent auto repair shop.  The ranges tend to vary drastically, but at least it gives you an idea of the ball park you should be in so you know up-front if someone is trying to take advantage of you.

RepairPal, while a really nice looking website that obviously someone spent a fortune building, does fall short of real help. Why not get the exact repair cost information including exact labor hours to perform the repair, average cost per hour specific to your area, parts prices on aftermarket and factory parts and only parts available in the area to do the job, no ordering. Why not be able to talk to a qualified estimator about the estimate? Even with this information you will still need a shop to do the work. RepairPal does have a list of dealerships that will do the work at the higher price, but they do no background check for complaints or problems. You need a resource that qualifies a repair shop before recommending them, you know checks under the hood of that shop to make sure the job will be done right, warranties, certified techs, no legal issues, mystery shops them once a month to see what they are charging consumer that don’t come to HAE first, that kind of thing. You need a resource that if you do have a problem, is going to be there to help you work it out with the shop, recommended or not. you need a resource that will give you a voice and demand you are treated fairly by all repair shops. A real consumer advocate for auto repair consumers. This sounds impossible? No, honestautoestimates.com, a consumer advocate for auto repair is concerned with your interest first!

Got something to say?
